Frequently asked questions
Do I pay AI provider costs separately?
Yes. KeyRing AI is the orchestration layer. You bring your own provider API keys and pay each provider directly for model usage. Your KeyRing subscription covers the software, not API calls.
How does beta access work?
Beta seats are limited to 100 total: first 25 seats at $25 and the remaining 75 seats at $75. Seat availability is shown live on the website and updates as payments complete.
What beta discount do testers receive at launch?
All 100 beta testers receive 50% off launch subscription pricing for their first 24 months, for both monthly and yearly plans.
What are the launch subscription prices?
Launch pricing is set at $9/month for Basic and $29/month for Pro before beta discounts are applied.
Can I switch from monthly to yearly billing during beta?
Not during beta, because public subscriptions are not live yet. After launch, you will be able to switch billing cadence from your account dashboard and Stripe will handle prorated adjustments.
What happens if I cancel my subscription?
Your paid access remains active until the end of your current billing cycle. After that, the desktop can continue on its cached entitlement only until that signed entitlement window expires, after which licensed interaction is blocked until access is restored. Your local data, conversations, keys, and files remain on your machine and are never deleted by us.
Where are my API keys and conversations stored?
API keys are encrypted and stored locally on your machine. Your conversation history, metrics, and generated files are stored locally too. When you send prompts, requests go directly from your machine to the selected AI provider and do not pass through KeyRing servers.
Is KeyRing AI for individuals or teams?
KeyRing AI is currently a single-user product. Each plan covers one license for one machine. Multi-seat and team plans are on the roadmap for a future release.
What happens if your servers are down?
The app caches its last successful license validation locally. If our server is unreachable, the desktop can continue operating on that cached signed entitlement for a limited window before access is affected. Your AI queries still go directly from your machine to the provider, and our infrastructure is never in that path.
